He is Risen!

EASTER SUNDAY

CALL TO WORSHIP:
CHRIST IS RISEN!
HE IS RISEN, INDEED!

We rejoice on this Easter morning, because God cared enough for us, to send the Son, so that we might have life abundant and life eternal. In response, we place our lives into God’s care, as Christ entrusted His, so that we too may know the present power of the Resurrection

Christ the Lord is Risen Today

PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
Almighty God, by your power was Christ raised from death to rule this world with love. We confess that we have not always believed totally in Him, but often fall into doubt and fear. Gladness sometimes seems to have no place in our hearts and our gratitude toward you is slight. Forgive the sense of hopelessness we sometimes have in our lives. Set us free for joy in the victory of Jesus Christ, who lives among us, now and forever. In His name we ask it, Amen.

ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
Our God has given us the gift of life. The Lord has forgiven us and raised us to new life with the Son, Jesus Christ, so that we might become new people. We hear the Gospel through different ears now, for we have become the people of the Resurrection! We are forgiven, filled with thanksgiving, and willing to offer our lives in the service of others.

AN AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
“The Risen Christ is the Savior for all people. Those joined to Him by faith are set right with God and commissioned to serve as His reconciling community. Christ is Head of this Community, the Church, which began with the apostles and continues through all generations” (from our Confession of 1967, section 9.10)

BENEDICTION
Having shared this time together, as we now depart from one another, let us remember these words from our Lord and let us carry them with us through each day of this season and through each season of our lives. For they are much more than merely an Easter blessing. They are the bedrock of our Faith.
“I am the Resurrection and the Life. If anyone believes in me, even though they die, they will live! And whoever lives and believes in me, will never die!” (John 11:25-26.)
