FOURTH SUNDAY AFTER EASTER
CALL TO WORSHIP:
We come together now to enter the presence of God, through whom all the families on earth receive their life and their name. We come with the prayer that the peace and love of Christ might dwell in all our family relationships, not only on this Mother’s Day, but on every day. We come together now to praise, to listen, and to learn. Especially this day, we come to celebrate those who are near and dear to us.
PRAYER OF CONFESSION:
God of love, through your Son, we hear your promises of new life, but are often afraid to believe in them. We worship you only partially, keeping back parts of ourselves for our own purposes. We look for absolute certainty instead of relying on faith, and thus we often miss your living presence in the surprises of life. We ask you to renew us by turning our trust to you again. In Christ’s name we ask these things, Amen.
AN ASSURANCE OF PARDON:
The Gospel message is quite clear: To all who confess their sins and resolve to lead a new life, God says,“You are forgiven!” Let us hear and believe this remarkable promise. Because of the birth, life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven, now and always!
AN AFFIRMATION OF FAITH:
The Lord has created the peoples of the earth to be one universal family. God’s reconciling love breaks down the barriers between us. The Church is called to bring all persons to uphold one another in all the relationships of life.

|A BENEDICTION TO TAKE WITH YOU THIS WEEK:|
As we now leave this time of worship, let us continue to be thankful for all the special women in our lives who gave us birth, nurtured us in love, or taught us God’s ways. For according to the Old Testament Prophet Isaiah, thus says the Lord, “As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you!” (Isaiah 66:13)
