Hi and welcome!
We’re glad you decided to take a look at our website! We know that visiting a new church can be overwhelming or intimidating, but knowing what to expect when you arrive might help make things easier. We hope this page will help with that!
The Sunday Experience
It is our joy to gather as a community on Sunday mornings at 10:00 a.m. to worship God, both in person and online (YouTube channel). More about online streaming can be found below. Those who worship in person normally arrive between 9:45 and 9:55 a.m.Many worship attendees come in business casual, while some dress up and others dress it down, but it is not unusual for us to show up in jeans, pants, polo, or tees.
No dress code, no expectation, just be comfortable.
It is our hope that the words (liturgy), the songs (hymns), the Scriptures and the message, as well as the opportunities to pray and to give provide a space and opportunity for us to meet with God, return our praise and blessings to God, and seek to be inspired and equipped to return to our daily lives to share God’s love and grace with others . . . though our own words, our acts of service, and by the way we live our lives.
Technology in Church
When Covid-19 changed the ways the world functions, Faith Community switched from using paper programs to technology. The program, or Order of Worship, is still available to download (Sample) if you’d like to print it out and bring it with you or use it on your phone.
When worshiping in person, you’ll find responsive readings, words to songs, and scripture readings projected on the screens at the front of the worship space, the sanctuary. Hymn books are available under the seats of the row in front of you for those who wish to use the music itself.
The vocal and handbell choirs sing or play many Sundays, enhancing our worship experience and God’s pleasure. Our Director of Music also provides beautiful and uplifting musical offerings and accompaniment on the piano or organ.
All are encouraged to sing the songs, or hymns, as you are comfortable. We normally stand for hymns, but you are welcome to remain seated if you prefer.
Participate as you are comfortable!
Children are always welcome in worship, but we understand that they may be more comfortable in the nursery when they get wiggly. The nursery is open and staffed by our attendant, Jodie Neale. Child-friendly activities are available on the table just outside the office, to the right of the worship space. You may take them in with you, or sit with your child at the table. The windows and speakers make it possible to participate in worship while sitting with your child if you choose to do so.
We give in gratitude to God for all the blessings we have received that others may be blessed.
An offering plate is located on the right, just inside the worship space, where you may leave your offering as you enter the sanctuary. There are envelopes available on a table to your right as you enter the building (through the second set of doors) which you can use to keep your offering private.
The financial offering supports the work of the church in mission and in ministering to others. You are welcome to make a financial offering as part of your spiritual practice, but it is completely up to you. No one is checking to see if you do or not!
Making a financial offering is welcome but not required!
After Community Worship Ends
Following our worship time together, we make our way out of the worship space to begin our service to God and others.
We would enjoy getting to know you and hope you might stay for a few minutes to meet some of the people who have gathered to worship and enjoy conversation afterward. As you exit the worship space, a gathering hall is just ahead and to the right where coffee, tea, and cookies or other baked treats are available.
Building relationships with God and one another is at the heart of our Sunday experience.
Current Covid Precautions
As you enter, a volunteer will ask your name and contact information in the unlikely event that we would need to contact worshipers regarding a Covid case. Masks are optional.
We still encourage distancing, handwashing and disinfecting, as well as keeping exposure time in larger groups shorter than pre-Covid.
We continue to monitor the statistics and CDC recommendations and our visitors’ and members’ needs and adjust our protocol accordingly.
Your health and safety is our concern.
Perhaps you’d like to see what worship is like before showing up in person, or your health or situation doesn’t allow your participation in person.
You are welcome to participate in our live-stream service or watch a previous Sunday worship experience to get a feel for what you might expect if you make a personal visit. There are special seasonal services on our YouTube channel as well.
We hope you will pay us a visit in person, but you are welcome to check us out here to see what to expect.
Come as a guest, stay as family!
No matter how you choose to participate, we want to welcome you, get to know you, and learn how we can serve together, at the church and in our daily lives. Check out our Mission page to see the opportunities we provide to get involved in helping others.
If you still have questions after taking a look around here, please call or send an email. We will try to respond promptly to your questions and/or concerns.
