“What’s the Buzz? Tell Me What’s Happening”
It’s not Fall yet, but we are certainly moving in that direction! Students are returning to school after summer
break, the weather is cooling off, churches are talking about Rally Day kick-off, and Fall schedules are filling up
fast! Tom and I took our youngest to MSU a week or two ago and excitement was in the air, in the dorm, on
the streets, in the water…The entire campus was buzzing!
So what’s the buzz at Faith Community? The choirs are returning (yay!), and we hope some of our travelers
are coming home. We look forward to seeing everyone back in worship again!
But the question for us at Faith Community is more spiritual in nature:
What is God up to at Faith Community?
Last year, Anna Onofrio took over the helm in the church office; we welcomed the New Hope Church into the
building and the neighborhood; and Tim Van Riper joined our music staff. Wow! That’s a lot of really great
things going on at Faith Community!
This year, we commissioned our Pastor Nominating Committee to search for the next permanent pastor at
Faith; we have put together our Exploratory Team to begin paving the way forward for us, or at least setting
up the cairns marking the way(s) we may choose to go; Session has begun to explore some potential ways of
streamlining our committee structure by forming a “Restructuring” Team! Lots more really good and
important things!
So, what is God up to at Faith Community? If these things are any indication, I’d have to say that God is quite
busy at and with Faith Community! Just like the world around us is changing, so too, is Faith Community
changing and reforming, and with God’s help, the changes will be great for us, for our community, and for
God!
Over the remainder of the year, we will be offering prayer experiences – classes, activities, gatherings – that
will help us discern with more clarity what it is that God is up to, and what God wants us to be up to, at Faith.
So, I am strongly suggesting, encouraging, imploring, that you engage in at least one, if not all, of these
experiences so that you can be a part of the excitement, the buzz, that going on at Faith Community!
What is God up to at Faith Community? Really great things, but without you and your help, it won’t be nearly
as fun, fulfilling, or faithful. So, what’s the buzz? Come see… Come get involved… Come be a part of what
God is doing at Faith Community!
